Venetian Plaster & American Clay

Elemental and stone-like, we love offering these extremely elegant, architectural finishes.

Syncing beautifully with the Arteriors mission to provide environmentally sustainable decorative art, decorative plaster made with real lime, as well as American Clay, actually improves air quality by “breathing”. Arteriors is a certified applicator of American Clay and we have many years of experience in Venetian plaster application. Our  expertise is sought after by internationally known Architects and Designers because of our ability to provide minute adjustments in color or texture to create a customized natural finish and achieve your perfect look.

Decorative Plasters such as Marmorino and Veneziano, and the types of American Clay finishes such as: Loma, Marittimo, and Porcelina are the ideal choice for contemporary or traditional interiors. We have also developed our own artistic veneers such as Poured Concrete and Etched Stone that have become popular alternatives for Urban Chic Design.

Both Stucco Veneziano (the original name for Venetian plaster) and American Clay finishes can be stenciled to create embossed patterns and reliefs. They also can be painted with liquefied pigments to create a fresco-like appearance.

VENETIAN PLASTER

This gorgeous architectural finish made from natural ingredients has been around for centuries. In fact, Venetian plaster got its name from the Italian city of Venice. It was invented to replicate marble as a solution for using a lighter weight material in a city that was built on water!

Venetian plaster transcends trendiness and is commonly used in homes and businesses across Europe. About 20 years ago, it has emerged in the U.S. to become a top choice for Hospitality venues and the Interior Design Industry.

Venetian plaster is aesthetically appealing on many levels. Slaked limestone, marble dust, sand and natural pigments from minerals are the key ingredients that contribute to its elemental natural beauty.

AMERICAN CLAY

American Clay is the ultimate in Green Chic! The best description we’ve heard for a space clad in organic American Clay is sensual luxury. There is a different feeling one gets that is the result of the breathability of the clay based material. Humidity and temperature is regulated, and sounds are made softer because of the cellular structure of the clay. Like traditional Venetian plaster, air quality is improved because of the non-toxic, organic materials.

American Clay design possibilities

  • Porcelina™ burnished finish.
  • Loma – Adobe like finish.
  • Marittimo – rustic finish.
  • Cement like finish.
  • Mica imbedded surface.
  • Raised stencils.
  • Lime washed.
  • Hard Trowel for a smooth feel.
  • Float Trowel for an Adobe look.
  • Skip Trowel for a stucco multi-layered affect.
  • Sponged for a suede-like finish.

Manufactured in Albuquerque, New Mexico, American Clay is a gorgeous, environmentally superior and sustainable product. As certified applicators of American Clay, our intentions are to promote this healthy and creative solution for residential and commercial spaces and bring more awareness to the great possibilities for healthier environments.
